Vilka var Singing Gospelaires?

The Singing Gospelaires var en amerikansk gospelgrupp som bildades 1955 i Los Angeles, Kalifornien. De var en av de mest populära gospelgrupperna på 1950- och 1960-talen och var kända för sin kraftfulla sång och energiska framträdanden. Gruppens ursprungliga medlemmar var Claude Jeter (sångare), Julius Cheeks (tenor) och William Crutchfield (bas). De fick senare sällskap av tenoren Arthur Lee och barytonen Henry Lee.

The Singing Gospelaires släppte sitt debutalbum, "When He Comes Again", 1956. De fortsatte med att släppa totalt 11 album, inklusive "The Singing Gospelaires Sing in Stereo" (1958), "The Best of the Singing Gospelaires" (1960), och "The Singing Gospelaires Sing for Christmas" (1962).

The Singing Gospelaires turnerade flitigt i hela USA och Europa. De uppträdde på stora gospelmusikfestivaler, som New York Gospel Music Workshop of America och Gospel Music Festival i Atlanta, Georgia. De medverkade också i tv-program som "The Ed Sullivan Show" och "The Tonight Show med Johnny Carson i huvudrollen."

The Singing Gospelaires upplöstes 1971. Men de återförenades 1985 för en föreställning på National Museum of American History i Washington, D.C. De uppträdde också på Smithsonian Institution 1986.

The Singing Gospelaires valdes in i Gospel Music Hall of Fame 1991. De anses vara en av de mest inflytelserika gospelgrupperna genom tiderna.
